Free news: Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC)is opening a monthly drop-in center for houseless community members at MCCAC’s The Gloria Center, 2505 W. Seventh St. The drop-in center will open the last Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning Friday, Jan. 30.
THE GORGE — The food pantry at Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) has closed and won’t reopen until the college can find enough food to put on the shelves.
(The Center Square) – As American taxpayers are plagued with high housing costs, rising medical expenses and other costs, many refugees continue to qualify for over a dozen costly federal benefits, as Congress could decide to continue the quadrupled funding for the program.
FREE: Six local organizations joined together to donate $20,000 to the Columbia Gorge Food Bank and help address increased need in the community: Chenowith Water PUD, the City of The Dalles, Hood River Electric & Internet Co-op, Northern Wasco County People’s Utility District, QLife, and Wasco Electric Cooperative presented the donation on Dec. 18.
Free news: Hood River County is one of 19 in the state where those who lost food because of recent storms and power outages, bought with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, have more time to ask for replacement benefits.
