To the editor: Each morning I’m saddened as I come down Fremont Street, looking across Hwy 97 to the hill and ravine that sits below Columbia View Drive. When I drive home, and back down the drive, I am angry and questions flood my mind.
On July 6, at about 5:11 p.m., Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle crash at milepost 68 on Highway 26, east of Government Camp and the Highway 35 junction.
A VEHICLE pulling an open utility trailer crossed over the guardrail noon Thursday, Sept. 19, on eastbound I-84 and rolled down an embankment between the highway and the railway, ending up on its wheels in rocks and brush. The trailer remained wedged on top of the guardrail. At least two people were transported by medical personnel but were able to walk with assistance up the embankment to the highway shoulder. A fire was reported at the time of the accident, but no fire was apparent on arrival and the visible smoke originally reported was thought by field personnel to have been from the radiator of the vehicle, which appeared to be a complete loss. Accident was photographed from behind Hank's Auto Sales. Mark B. Gibson photo
