On Saturday, July 11, The Dalles Coastal store will be giving away 300 life jackets for kids up to 12 years of age at a drive-thru event in the parking lot of the Fort Dalles Readiness Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a first-come, first-served event and your Coastal employees and volunteers will be wearing masks and following all social distancing guidelines. The Fort Dalles Readiness Center is located at 402 East Scenic Drive in The Dalles.

Since November 2011, Sgt. 1st Class Ben Hall has served essentially as the manager of the Fort Dalles Readiness Center at 402 E. Scenic Drive, which is the home of Delta Troop, 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry of the Oregon Army National Guard.

Columbia River Gorge yarn shop Knot Another Hat is bringing the Columbia Gorge Fiber Festival (CGFF) to the new Fort Dalles Readiness Center for its fifth showing. The festival brings hundreds of fiber enthusiasts from throughout the United States and Canada to the Gorge.

A flea market will take place Sunday, July 19, to support The Dalles and Hood River National Guard. The event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot behind Klindt’s bookstore and west of the Wasco County Veterans Service office. Donations can be taken to the second floor office of Fort Dalles Readiness Center this week during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
