To the editor: Thanks to The Chronicle and Derek Wiley for recently reporting on the Amerities plant and its odors. It’s a complex issue and benefits from fair, calm coverage. I, for one, support the Amerities plant. That is, I support it being the best plant it can be, fitted with the most effective scrubbers and filters money can buy. It should be a facility that we’re proud to host in The Dalles, not one that damages our community’s health, quality of life and civic image.
As Detroit prepares for its bankruptcy hearing Wednesday, major metropolises all over the country are asking the same thing: How do we make sure we’re not the next Detroit?
Coal controversy To the editor: After reading the article in the Tuesday, April 10, edition, I truly felt how some of our local political elected officials are not looking out for the best interest of our community and the environment.
The Dalles Meals on Wheels will participate in the national 2013 March for Meals campaign tomorrow to raise public awareness about the need to support the program that feeds homebound seniors within the community.
