The state and federal governments have made funds available to help shelter homeless folks in The Dalles, according to Chris Zukin, chair of the Community Meal board.
Running strong as it marks its 35th anniversary, Community Meal has served hundreds of thousands of meals over the decades, all through volunteer efforts. Community Meal will celebrate the milestone at its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 13.
There’s going to be party in the parking lot outside the Community Meal site on Saturday and area residents are invited to come down, enjoy music and a hamburger, and learn more about the program to feed anyone in need of a hot meal.
Community Meal, which has been providing a free meal to all comers every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for over 30 years, is looking for a few new groups to help prepare meals a few times a year.
