When they asked for the 2018 Women Build by Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity to have a “Rosie the Riveter” theme, the visiting team had no idea that the first female to work on airplanes during World War II resided in The Dalles. The 10 women who came from across the United States planned to have the walls of the 1,200-square-foot home on Fourth Street in Lyle up by the end of the week.
