Lee Jensen

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Jensen, sons David, Eric, and Jake Jensen (White Salmon), and daughters Denise Turley (Sitka, Alaska), Hannah Bartholomew (Noel, Mo.), and Nelli Sudbrock (LaGrande, Ore.).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Verena Jensen, and his younger brother, Vern Jensen.

Lee was born in Blackfoot, Idaho and graduated from Blackfoot High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1958-1962 at military bases in California and Okinawa. He was a missionary for the LDS church 1962-1964 in England, where he and Sandra met.

Lee and Sandra married in 1964 and started a family while Lee attended art schools in Spokane and Seattle. They lived in many different places around the Northwest while Lee worked as a commercial artist and sign painter. They moved to the Snowden area near White Salmon in the early 1980s.

Lee was passionate about art, nature, and rural life. He painted landscapes and wildlife of the Western US in his free time, and took every opportunity to paint natural settings in his commercial work.

Later in his career, Lee worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers and painted many murals and wildlife scenes at the Bonneville Dam.

Lee suffered for years from cancer and related illnesses that precipitated his retirement. In his later years, he spent his time reading, enjoying visits from his grandchildren, and vigorously debating the fine points of any subject that came up. While it is a blessing that he is finally at rest and free from pain, he is greatly missed.

At his request, no funeral service will be held.
