Jack Taylor, 86, passed away on Nov . 17, 2016, at his home in Tygh Valley , Ore. Jack was born in Miller, Ore. February 7, 1930, to Malcolm Harvey Taylor and Vera Lillian (Vogel) Taylor . He was the third of nine siblings. Jack left high school at the age of 17 to join the Army and serve his country . A highlight of his eight years of service was surviving “The Battle of Pork Chop Hill” during the Korean War with his brother Larry “Bug” who received a Purple Heart. Jack’s passions in life included trap shooting, steelhead fishing on the Deschutes, going for his daily walk with his beloved dog “Blue” and feeding the foxes he was so fond of. Jack married Juanda Hayes on June 27, 1970, and they were married for almost 36 years before her death in 2006. He was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, National Rifle Association, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, his wife Juanda, and two stepsons. He is survived by three siblings; “Tut” Waters, Bev Reed and Tom Taylor . Dawn Hayes, Dan and Mary Hayes, six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no service.
