Doris H. Benedict, 76, of The Dalles, Ore., passed away on May 22, 2014, at The Springs at Mill Creek. Doris was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Tygh Valley, Ore., to Charles Engel and Hazel Benton Engel. Doris completed her schooling in the Dufur, Ore., area. On Jan. 1, 1953, Doris married Albert Benedict in Goldendale, Wash.
Doris was employed as an Avon representative for over 30 years, and was also an apartment manager. She resided in Redmond, Ore., Hood River, Ore., and finally in The Dalles.
Doris was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in The Dalles at the time of her passing. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading, and played the organ at various churches for 55 years.
Doris is survived and will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Tim (Kim) Benedict, of Hood River, and her daughter and son-in-law Jodi (Mark) Van Metre, of Hood River. She is also survived by granddaughters Jessie (Christopher) Godsil and Alisha (Brandon) Mooney, and grandson Allan (Lori) Van Metre; and great-grandchildren Christian Godsil, Reagan Mooney and Addison and Ellie Beth Van Metre.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son Terry Benedict.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m. at Hood River Alliance Church, 2650 Montello Ave., Hood River. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hearts of Hospice, Hood River. Memorial contributions may be sent in care of Anderson’s Tribute Center.
