First Friday on Nov. 4 featured a unique citizen art project with a purpose. Columbia Riverkeeper headquarters on Third Street in downtown Hood River hosted a climate change tile making project, with co-organizers Hood River Valley Residents Committee, Gorge Ecology Center, Oregon Climate, Citizens’ and Climate Lobby. Adult artists enjoyed beer provided by the organizers, and tables full of art supplies awaited anyone who wanted to come in and express themselves. The tiles were taken to Portland on Nov. 14 to be part of a salmon mosaic for climate policy change at Pioneer Square. At left, tile made by Larry Jones of Hood River.
