THE GORGE — This fall the Columbia Gorge Tourism Alliance is celebrating food and drink from around the Gorge with a brand-new annual event, Taste of the Gorge.
More than 70 businesses from Vancouver to Goldendale and Troutdale to The Dalles are participating through November. It is an interactive program where diners earn points by tracking their local visits on a digital passport.
This experience encourages residents and visitors to explore restaurants and small businesses along the Columbia River. It follows the Gorge Food Trails, highlighting places that use or create locally-sourced ingredients and support regional food systems.
Paper passports for Taste of the Gorge are available at visitor centers, but downloading the virtual passport to keep track of visits is recommended at www.gorgefoodtrails.com/taste-of-the-gorge.
Participants can redeem their points at the end of the program, which ends November 15, for prizes like restaurant gift cards and overnight stays at the Balch Hotel in Dufur or Skamania Lodge in Stevenson.
