Norma Cannon celebrates 100th

  Norma (Horner) Cannon turned 100 recently, marking the occasion with family and friends. She was born in Enterprise, Oregon, on Sept. 16, 1926, and moved to Hood River in the early 1940s with her mother, sister, and brother.

      Norma’s mother opened a flower shop downtown next to the Rialto Theater and later went to work for the phone company. Norma met Beauford “Buck” Cannon; they married in 1946 and had four children, three of them sons who followed in their father’s footsteps and served in the military. Buck started doing TV repair, and the couple opened an upholstery shop in their home. The business later moved to a shop on Tucker Road, which they ran together until Buck passed away in 1980. With help from their children, Norma kept the shop going until it closed in the early 1990s.
