Just three weeks into the season and the race for first is closer than a Gillette shave. MTS (Tyson Byers, Mac Proffitt and Steve Byers) leads with 48 points, Ol’7-10 has 47, and Orchard Lanes and The Rollers are next with 46, followed by Mt. Hood BBQ with 45.
In the team matches last week Mt. Hood BBQ excelled. They grilled Hood River Supply 22-3 behind multi-talented orchardist John Riggleman, who led his crew with adroit 214 and 203 games. Orchard Lanes topped The Crew 18-7, as did Clear Cutters over Decavo. Ramblin’ Rod Pratt anchored the Cutters with a deft 205 game.
MTS took it to Triple T’s 17-8 as steady Steve Byers racked up a nifty 646 series capped by timely 231 and 216 games for his MTS trio. OL’7-10 sandblasted Randy’s Painting 17-8 thanks to Luke Renfro, who notched a dandy 214 game for OL’7-10. Albert Frelix kept the painters close as he fashioned a slick 217 game.
Pat’s Pro Shop squeaked by The Rollers 14-11, thanks to Joey Sheirbon’s bang-up 245 game for the pro shoppers.
Tuesday Nite Mixed league:
As noted above, New Team and Hood River Supply starred last week. They were both undefeated in their matches. New Team beat Taco Tuesday and Hood River Supply waxed Are You Splitting Me. Woody Eskildsen led Hood River Supply with a fine 211 game.
Team Nishi, Double A Orchards and Who Gives A Split thumped their opponents 3-1. Stuart Kawachi and Joey Sheirbon excelled for Nishi with classy 246 and 223 games, respectively. Team Nishi topped Split Faced, Double A Orchards thumped CPR and Who Gives A Split bounced Take Ten. Ken Espersen kept Take Ten in the match as the easygoing right handed finesse specialist tossed tidy 227 and 219 games.
Mad Skilz and Gutter Dawgs split 2-2 in their match. Gutter Dawgs were tough on the talented Mad Skilz foursome. They forced Mad Skilz journeyman Bob Mason and all-star anchorman Jeremy Bloom to be on top of their games to break even in their contest. Mason and Bloom did not disappoint, as Bob blasted a huge 240 game and Jeremy stroked terrific 233 and 207 games.
Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies league:
Senior Stars of the week: Matt Phillips rolled a beautiful scratch 616 three-game series; Mick Sherrell connected for a lofty scratch 227 game; and Anne Brady led the gals with a slick 208 game.
Rolling Pins (Patsy Busick, Ed Busick and Matt Phillips) and Pins in Low Places (Joyce Pillon, Don Hull, and Gordon Pillon) are tied for first place with 14 wins. Jessie’s Team, Cousins and Awesome 3 are tied for third with 11 wins.
Here are the results from last week’s matches: Rolling Pins earned a gold star as a co-team of the week due to their blanking of Cousins 4-0. The main man in this match was the Pins anchorman star Matt Phillips, who was definitely in the zone. He pummeled the pins to the tune of a mighty fine 616 series highlighted by cracking 213 and 205 games.
Jessie’s Team and Rice Krispies earned 3-1 wins. Jessie’s Team topped Pins in Low Places and Rice Krispies popped Gutt-er Done. As usual the Sherrell twins starred for Jessies Team. Mick gets top nod this time with a skillful 227 game and Dick had a nice 205.
Wednesday night Fraternal league:
The hard-hitting Bloom Auto Body trio (Jeremy Bloom, Mark Chabotte and Bryan Mason) moved into first place with 85.5 points. The Bowling Stones got some satisfaction as they are in second with 76.5 points. Hood River Athletic Club flexed their muscles in third with 73 points and Mt. Hood BBQ smoked into fourth with 71 points.
Here are the match results from last week: Hood River Athletic Club and Mt. Hood BBQ whipped their opponents 21-4. Josh Worth and Ken Kramer starred for the clubbers. Mighty Josh muscled 217 and 214 games, but Ken really carried the ball with a 201 game and consistent 574 series that was a whopping 121 pins over his average, the top individual performance in all league action at Orchard Lanes last week.
No wonder the HR Club won 21 points from their opponent, the dangerous Get Hu’sum BBQ threesome, but it wasn’t as easy as it looks because fireballer, white water rafter and celebrated chef Stan Pratnicki blistered the sticks for the BBQ-ers with outstanding 243, 217 and 205 games for a sweet 665 series in defeat. Got to give it to Stan, that’s one heck of a college try.
Tyson Trout keyed Mt. Hood BBQ’s big 21-4 win over Tres Psicos last week with consistent first-rate games, including an even 200 as he put together a solid 590 series. USBC Nationals star Skip Whitley tried to hold serve with a first-class 202 game for the three wild ones, but it wasn’t enough this time.
Orchard Lanes lit up the Red Rockets 18-7. Mega hook artist Jeff Brittle managed to control that big bender of his and hit the 1-3 pocket when it counted for the lanes squad, as he struck up a splendid 220 game.
Ten in the Pit singed The Bowling Stones 17-8 as Ten in the Pit’s all-star power player AJ Perdue cleared the deck like a machine for a strike filled 677 series that included exceptional 265 and 230 games. By the way, AJ’s 677 was the highest series rolled in league at Orchard Lanes last week. All-star Chad Mason managed to salvage points for The Bowling Stones with a glitzy 256 game and 626 set.
Thursday afternoon County league:
Welcome back County league! Here are the match results from the first week of league action. As previously noted, there is a celebrity team in the County league as the Blind Bowlers earned co-star team of the week status because they took the broom to their opponents, sweeping Save the Pins 4-0 last week.
3-1 wins were popular in the league last week. The Unbowlievables got BS-ers 3-1 as Michael Poor set the tone for the victory with a neat 211 game. Looks like four months off from the end of the last league bowling season hasn’t hurt Michael one bit!
Over the Line dropped the perennial league favorites, The Munsons 3-1; The Gutter Balls outdid Lady Ballers 3-1; Holy Rollers thumped The Incredibowls 3-1 even though Rod Pratt logged a tidy 205 game for the self-proclaimed incredulous threesome.
Stop, Drop & Bowl split 2-2 with The Flu Fighters.
Good bowling everyone.
