The Children’s Park play structure proposal is now ready for public review.
City Council Member Megan Saunders will present the design to council and the public at the next City Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Posters of the draft design will be displayed and comment forms will be available at City Hall and The Next Door until Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Comments can also be submitted to childrenspark@cityofhoodriver.com by Dec. 5. This is the last opportunity for input before the design is finalized and construction starts in spring 2018.
“Our next steps will be to continue volunteer recruitment and begin fundraising as we get ready for the community build,” said Saunders.
The structure has a larger footprint than the existing one, set for demolition over the winter. The proposed plan includes a separate play structure designed for kids 2-5, and additional trees and other plantings. A memorial bench at the southeast corner will remain, and the plans do not affect the Rotary covered basketball structure, but do make use of the sloped area and pathways and steps on the south side of the park.
