Twenty eight Hood River Valley High School students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program spend a spring morning working with and learning from Central Gorge Master Gardeners in the Learning Garden located on the OSU Hood River County Extension campus. AVID is a college preparation program that supports students who are academically motivated but who face barriers to higher education. Through an elective class that combines academic skill-building, leadership training, and community service, AVID students build the skills and habits to reach their potential and prepare for college and career success.
