THE DALLES — The Dalles High Riverhawks boys and girls wrestling teams kicked off their season last week with the first of 11 tournaments. The Riverhawks, guided by second-year Coach Barry Abrams, competed in the Ranger Classic – the girls in a Special District 3 Class 4A/3A/2A/1A 12-team tourney Dec. 6 and the boys in a 4A 12-team event Dec. 7.

“For the girls team, it was the first ever high school wrestling meet for all but one of them and they did really well with a fifth place finish,” said Abrams. Ivy Aguella (second place), Sahalle Campos (third) and Kianna Dominguez (third) led the girls wrestlers. Aguella won three out-of-four matches.
