HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley’s (HRV) 2025 softball season will continue in the OSAA Class 5A state playoffs after the Eagles finished second in the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC).
Sixth-ranked HRV will host Eagle Point in the May 27 first round of the playoffs at 5 p.m. at the Westside Elementary field. Eagle Point (15-11 overall) was the third-place team out of the Midwestern League.
Hood River, coached by Madelynn Vallejo, finished the regular season with a 21-5 record, 13-3 in the NWOC. Canby won the league crown with a 14-2 record. Vallejo, in her third season as coach, helped guide HRV to a spot in the playoffs for the first time since the Eagles advanced to the 5A quarterfinals in 2019. Hood River was a combined 12-18 in its first two years of the NWOC before its 2025 breakout season.
The Eagles take a five-game win streak into the postseason. HRV won three games this past week: 9-6 at Hillsboro on May 20; 21-3 at Centennial on May 21; and a 17-0 senior day win May 23 in the second game against Centennial.
Eagle Point and Hood River have common opponents this season. Eagle Point lost to La Salle Prep and Wilsonville of the NWOC. Hood River swept its two-game series with Wilsonville and split two games vs. La Salle Prep.
