THE GORGE — The Gorge has many group runs that are all tied in and promoted within the “sweat equity” of the volunteers of Columbia Gorge Running Club. The CGRC is a hub to learn about the goings on for run activities here in the Gorge. Visit columbiagorgerunningclub.com to learn about events, history, races, and more.
The latest — aside from the weekly runs happening around the Gorge — is the SQUATCH fun run on Sunday, April 28 at 8 a.m. out of Spruce Gifts & Provisions in Cascade Locks. Find info on the CGRC social media/Strava Group, Shortt Supply social media, and Post Canyon 50k & Half Marathon social media. Everyone partaking will have several trail options, thanks to Post Canyon Half Marathon, Columbia Gorge Run Club, and Shortt Supply (Hood River) group trail leaders. Everyone will receive a complimentary coffee from Longbottom Coffee & Tea, as well as a special gift from Spruce Gifts & Provisions. The SQUATCH Run/Hike is an opportunity for folks to come together and play on trails, as well as build awareness that Spruce Gifts & Provisions is owned and operated by the nonprofit Oregon Wildlife Foundation.
One of the longest-standing fun runs is the Ferment Fun Run, happening every Tuesday night at 6 p.m., starting from the Ferment Brewing Company Deck. Just four flat miles that you can run, walk, skip, jump, and/or however you want to cover the ground. You do not even have to do the entire distance, and Ferment gives you a complimentary beverage when you are done.
