1A girls soccer: Catlin Gabel tops Trout Lake girls, Bruins shut out Stevenson

TROUT LAKE — Top-ranked Catlin Gabel remained unbeaten in Class 3A/2A/1A Special District 1 girls soccer matches with a 4-1 win Oct. 8 over Trout Lake.

The Mustangs dropped to 2-2 in league matches with the loss and 4-5-1 overall. Catlin improved to 10-1 and 5-0 in District 1 play.

Trout Lake is in sixth place in the 10-team standings. The top six teams qualify for postseason play. Trout Lake has five matches remaining, including its regular season finale at home against Valley Catholic (8-2-2, 5-0-1).

WHITE SLAMON — The Columbia High Bruins split two games last week in Trico League girls soccer.

The Bruins (4-5 Trico, 4-6 overall) won at home Oct. 8, 4-0 over the Stevenson High Bulldogs (0-6-2 Trico, 1-7-2 overall). For the Bruins, led by sophomore goalkeeper Lani Uffelman, it marked their first shutout win this season.

The Bruins then faced the No. 2-ranked Seton Catholic Prep Cougars (8-0 Trico, 10-0 overall) on Oct. 10 and lost 7-0 in Vancouver.

The Bruins have five games remaining on their regular season schedule, which concludes Oct. 31.
