HOOD RIVER — Emerging from its traditional dark January, Columbia Center for the Arts (CCA) invites everyone to “Into the Forest” in February with a new show featuring the work of Gorge artist Genevieve Scholl in the main gallery.
For the past four years, Scholl has focused her painting practice on Pacific Northwest forest landscapes, creating portrait-like studies of trees, pools, mosses, ferns and nurse logs of the Hoh Rainforest, the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon coast.
“Genevieve has long been a friend and supporter of the Arts Center, and we are delighted to start the year with a big show of her wonderful paintings,” CCA Executive Director Tim Harkins said. “This show will bring you into the forests of the northwest in a special way.”
The show will feature more than 20 works in oil on canvas and paper.
The Lobby for Local Art will feature the work of local photographer, Cate Hotchkiss, who creates dreamlike and ethereal images that reflect the magic and mystery of the Columbia River Gorge and beyond.
Both exhibits will kick off with an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 and will be open for visitors through the month of February.
