Sherman beat Dufur for a third time this season to advance to the OSAA Class 1A boys basketball tournament in Baker City.
Noah Noteboom / file photoBAKER CITY — Dufur and Sherman County each lost quarterfinal Class 1A boys basketball state tournament games on March 6 and were scheduled to play a consolation game 9 a.m. March 7 at Baker City.
Dufur lost 64-28 to top-seed Mannahouse Academy of Portland while Sherman (23-6) fell in overtime, 50-48, to North Douglas (25-3).
Sherman’s Isaiah Riggs sent the game into overtime, with a deep 3-pointer from straight on. Riggs finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Dufur (22-7) fell behind 34-16 at halftime against Mannahouse (27-3), which forced 12 first-half turnovers. Jacob Kent led Dufur in scoring with seven points.
On Friday morning, Sherman County downed Big Sky Conference rival, Dufur, to advance to the March 8 fourth place game against a to be determined opponent. The Huskies fended off the Rangers and won 64-50.
