Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River, Oregon announces its March 2008 show, "BLUE," a group exhibit featuring gallery artists.
This year's "BLUE" exhibit evolved from the enormously popular 2007 "RED" exhibit. Columbia Gallery artists have been invited to create artworks of any subject matter, using blue as the predominant color. The public is invited to the artists' reception on Friday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. The show continues through March 30.
Curators for the show are Catherine J. Lee and Joy Kloman, both gallery artists participating in the show.
"Color is often a strong element in almost any work of art," notes Lee. "With a large group show, sometimes it's a real challenge to create a strong enough theme that pulls all the artwork together. We're finding with these 'color theme' shows, a single color, in this case blue, creates this amazing resonance throughout a very diverse selection of art."
Kloman adds, "Color is definitely an evocative aspect of art -- either by its presence or absence. The previous exhibit, "RED" was hugely successful, partly due to associations one gathers from viewing such rich, luscious color. We anticipate the "BLUE" exhibition will be equally well-received. "BLUE," in all its varying hues, values, and intensities is certain to be a poignant show that inspires viewers."
