BRIAN McKENZIE
Brian Wayne McKenzie died in Hood River, Ore., on Aug. 26, 2006, at the age of 23. He was born in The Dalles, Ore., on Jan. 3, 1983, the son of Michele Seely (Fondren) and Dennis McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie attended Columbia High School in White Salmon, where he especially enjoyed working with the teachers and his peers in the woodshop. Recently, he worked tempering glass for Cardinal Glass in Odell, Ore. He loved fishing, camping and the outdoors, but his passion was surfing. He dreamed of moving to California where he would build boards and ride the waves. An affable young man, Mr. McKenzie loved animals and made friends easily.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Michele and Bill Seely, The Dalles, Ore.; father Dennis McKenzie of Oklahoma; brothers Glenn and Brandon McKenzie, The Dalles, and Dennis McKenzie, Jr. of Hood River; and grandmother Naomi Fondren of Temple, Texas.
A funeral service for Mr. McKenzie was held at 1 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 1, 2006, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon. Pastor Ken Rieper officiated and there was a reception in Gardner Chapel immediately following the service.
Memorials in Brian McKenzie's name may be given to White Salmon Valley Schools Woodshop, in care of Gardner Funeral Home, PO Box 390, White Salmon, Wash., 98672.
