A large crowd of friends and family joined Jim Curl at the memorial service for his wife Leota on Saturday in White Salmon. Both have been long time loved residents and business owners in our community.
John Taylor is scanning Lyle School annuals, both to put onto the internet and store at Twin Bridges Museum. He is missing the following years, 1942 thru '54. With the exceptions of '46 and '53. Does anyone know if annuals were printed in those years and if so, do you have any he could borrow to scan? You can call John at 365-4722. His goal is to have a complete set!
At the semi-weekly game night at the Lyle Activity Center there were over 30 enjoying games, laughter, music, puzzles, and popcorn. The activity night is growing and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. There is some activity for all ages.
Most of the Lyle Community Council attended the EDA Grant presentations in Goldendale on Jan. 14. Our new activity center, fire department and high school all had requests to present. The EDA Committee will be making its decisions in the next few weeks and those receiving a nod will have their funds granted probably in March.
A percentage of the proceeds from Lyle's own Ms. (Eleanor) Bean's concert on Jan. 22, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium (323 E 4th St., The Dalles) will go toward the Lyle Activity Center. The doors open at 6 p.m., the concert starts at 7, and the price is $10 ea. The group will be releasing her new CD that evening. Tickets can be purchased at Klindt's Bookstore in The Dalles, Dallesport Mini-Storage in Dallesport, The Lyle Taproom, The Lyle Cafe, Trellis Flowers in White Salmon and Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River.
The Community Council meets on Jan 25 at the Lions Club at 7 p.m. The speaker this month will be giving information about the 2010 Census and how to become a paid census taker. The council also welcomes Juliet Pouillon and Oren Johnson on the council this year.
