&nbps; The Klickitat School District Board of Directors has narrowed its search for a new superintendent to three finalists.
The finalists, Jerry Lynch, Donna Painter and Thomas Smith, met with staff and the board of directors, toured Klickitat School District facilities, and participated in a potluck dinner Friday, March 11. Formal interviews with the board took place Saturday, March 12.
Jerry Lynch is currently District Director of Personnel and Operations for Anacortes School District. He has experience as a middle school principal in the Anacortes and Goldendale school districts. He also taught math and science in Goldendale School District, the Kake City School District in Alaska, and the Aquilla Independent School District in Texas. Lynch has a Master's in Education from Central Washington University and a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Baylor University.
Donna Painter is currently principal for Klickitat Elementary. She previously worked as a special education teacher at Klickitat Elementary, a position she held from 1981-2003. Prior to that, Painter served as a pre-school teacher, a coach, and a tax assessor. She holds a Master's in Administration from Heritage College and a Bachelor's in Education from Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho.
Thomas Smith is currently adjunct professor at Central Washington University. His previous experience includes serving as superintendent/principal for Wilson Creek School District. He also worked as a principal and a teacher for Union Gap School District. Prior experience includes teaching at Holy Family School and Northport High School. He holds a Master's and a Bachelor's Degree from Central Washington University.
Currently, Ron Hackbarth is serving as Interim Superintendent for the school district. Dr. Twyla Barnes and Educational Service District 112 staff members are assisting the Klickitat Board of Directors in the superintendent's search process.
