After dropping its conference opener to Centennial last week, the Hood River Valley girls’ team wasted no time in taking out the loss on their next two opponents.
The Eagles pounded David Douglas 6-0 on Tuesday and then knocked off Reynolds 3-1 on Thursday.
Justine Bryant started off the Hood River goal-fest against the Royal Scots when she converted a penalty kick in the first half.
Lindsay Halliday followed that with the first of her two goals after she took a pass from Jennifer Hanners and put it in the goal for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Jessica Ostler opened the scoring in the second half after Dani Lickty fed her the ball then Julie Hazlett scored two consecutive goals to open a 5-0 lead.
“The girls really possessed the ball well and played their best give-and-go soccer of the season,” Coach Joe Kelly said. “They created lots of scoring chances.”
On Thursday the Eagles went into halftime tied after Reynolds scored late in the half on their only shot of the half to tie it up 1-1.
Kaela VanSwaay had scored early on an assist from Bryant to give the Eagles the lead. In the second half Bryant scored on an assist from Lichty and Halliday scored on an assist from Hazlett to put the game away.
The Eagles were without captain Jessica Ostler in the Thursday game because of an ankle sprain, but Kelly hopes to have her back when the Eagles take on Barlow at home on Tuesday.
