“Nothing to report here, just burning furniture and I brought down my power line,” Cannon said. “I didn’t think the flames would get that high,” she said, adding that she had wetted down the ground before starting the fire.
Westside Fire Department responded with eight firefighters and three vehicles, including an engine. Pacific Power also responded.
The fire was about one mile from the Westside Rockford Station. No structural damage occurred, but Cannon said, “I lost a couple of cans of beans.”
Jim Trammell, Westside Fire Marshal, said no citations were issued. “I’ve instructed her to make sure she gets a burn permit next time and to do so safely,” Trammell said.
