TD trio puts out positive golf scores at state

The Dalles golfers, pictured from left to right, Samantha Stansbury, Aidan Telles and Tyler Vassar wrapped up the season at state tournaments this past Tuesday, with Telles in a tie for third place and Vassar ending up tied for eighth place in a field of 58 golfers at Trysting Tree in Corvallis. Stansbury totaled 15 bogeys and four pars and shot a 199 to finished tied for 13th place with fellow sophomores, Karra Kaiser (Wilsonville) and Logan Dietz (Ridgeview). Tannica Porter, of Willamette, parred her last two holes for a 157 to edge out Pendleton’s Megan George (158) for her individual state title. The Pendleton girls won the 5A state title by nine strokes over Crater, while the Crescent Valley boys defeated Ridgeview by 35 shots.

In his career, Tyler Vassar tallied eight medalist titles, had two top-10 state finishes, and as a sophomore, he played a big part in helping The Dalles boys golf team to its best state outcome in program history, second place.

All of those positive memories will be his driving force at the collegiate level.
