With a match at home against the 5A classification’s No. 4-ranked volleyball team, The Dalles put forth a valiant effort in a three-game sweep loss to Crook County Thursday at Kurtz Gym.
The Riverhawks had their closest score in the opening game and gave the Cowgirls everything they could handle, but ended up losing by a 25-21 margin.
In the final two games, Crook County took control and went on to tally wins of 25-16 and 25-15 to preserve the sweep.
On the stat sheet, Bailey LeBreton slammed down a team-leading 10 kills and added nine digs, Kilee Hoylman had five kills and nine digs, and Maggie Justesen chipped in 10 digs, an ace, a block and a kill.
Audrey Synon was good for a kill, two digs and two aces, Eliana Ortega added six digs and an ace, and Lauryn Belanger posted three kills and two digs.
The Dalles (3-11 overall, 1-5 league) was at the St. Helens Tournament Saturday.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Hawks host fourth-place Pendleton (4-10, 3-3) for senior night.
