THE DALLES girls golf team mebers (pictured from left to right), Abby Walker, Iliana Telles, Jennifer Bonham and Brooke McCall proudly display their tournament championship plaque after scoring a 395.
Iliana Telles had her best day of the season with a medalist-winning 74 and The Dalles girl’s golf team combined for a 395 to secure its first team crown at Wednesday’s Hood River Invitational under sunny skies at Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River.
Added to the season-best scorecard posted by Telles, Brook McCall continued her improvements with a 53-52 and a 105 for second place in the rankings.
Right behind was first-year golfer Abby Walker, who putted her way to a 107 and Jennifer Bonham capped the four-team group with her final tally of 109.
Given the difficult hole placements on the course, TD coach Dan Telles was impressed by the scores.
“I am proud of the girls. We are a young and inexperienced team, but we are coming out ready to play,” coach Telles said.
Hood River Valley had Amy Webber, Carla Wyatt and Sara Hamada on the course for an incomplete team score.
Wyatt had the best score of the trio with her 62-63 for a 125 to lead the Eagles.
Webber had a 64 on the back-nine for a 128 and Hamada scored a 61 on the front-end and finished with a 68 and a 129.
TD next heads to Redmond on Thursday, May 7 for the two-day regionals at Eagle Crest Resort.
