The Dalles Sluggers is holding open gyms starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Wahtonka Gym located in The Dalles.
These sessions are open for players of all ages and ends after a player has gone through warm-ups, along with some fielding and hitting drills.
The time for weeks following will be established based on number of players, coaching and gym availability time.
All open gyms will be Saturday mornings until the weather improves, then practices will move from Saturday mornings to Sundays outside at Kramer Field.
The Sluggers are also looking for new players in the 14U, 12U and 10U age groups to join the program, as some of the athletes are growing older and playing at different levels, so the hope is gaining more interest to keep the program moving forward.
New coaches are needed to help with the further progression of these athletes and all interested coaches are encouraged to email Sluggers president Deric Anthony with their players’ age and intended level of play and a short letter of interest, so the board members can establish the coacheing candidates early in the process.
Parents need to bring completed registration documents to the first open gym and make any necessary arrangements to have completed paperwork, documents and payments in order.
There will be a couple more documents to sign at open gyms such as paper release forms.
Call or text 541-340-0516 for further instructions.
