The Dalles receiver Glenn Brackterfield runs down the sidelines in a football game this season at Sid White Field in The Dalles. At 7 p.m. Friday, the Riverhawks travel east to take on Andrew Peasley and the La Grande Tigers.
The Dalles Riverhawks are going to need a top-flight effort in all three phases of the game in order to come out on top in Friday’s contest versus quarterback Andrew Peasley, running back is Isaac Chamberlain, receiver Zack Jacobs and the La Grande Tigers.
“I think this is will be our toughest game of the season by far,” Sugg said. “Peasley is one of the best quarterbacks in the state, at all levels, and he will be a handful to contain. We need to play our best game of the year if we are going to win.”
Last season, La Grande (0-4 overall, 0-1 league) won its league and boasted the 4A’s fifth-best scoring offense with 379 points scored.
So far, the offense has averaged 21.5 points in four straight losses.
The Dalles’ defense has stopped Madras, Fort Vancouver and Mac-Hi, holding them to 4.6 points in three wins.
“We have to be disciplined because La Grande runs a good spread offense with their quarterback. He can make all of the throws and he can beat us with his legs,” Sugg said. “We have to be ready to play assignment football and do our best to win the battle of the line of scrimmage.”
The Dalles (3-1) offense averages 24.5 points a game with quarterback Dominique Seufalemua and his best weapons Glenn Breckterfield, Dakota Murr and Jordan Lutu, bringing a solid dynamic against a Tiger defense that has allowed 95 points in the last two games.
“If we can have balance on offense, we can exploit them a little,” Sugg said. “We have the guys to do it, so if Dom can get some time, we can move the ball and put ourselves in position to score some points.”
Radio station 1440 AM KODL broadcasts the game at 7 p.m. Friday from La Grande.
