Ranger standouts end season on league list

The Dufur Rangers finished 15-1 in league play and captured a Blue Mountain Conference crown this past spring on the baseball field. With a powerfuel offense and stout pitching staff, the No. 1-ranked Rangers had six players pick up all-league recognition for their efforts, including first-team bids by Kolbe Bales and Bailey Keever, and second-team honors for Hagen Pence, Curtis Crawford and Connor Uhalde. Bales was also named as the league’s Most Valuable Player with his seven wins, three no-hitters, one combined, and a 0.25 earned run average in 55 1/3 innings pitched.

Kolbe Bales had an all-time season on the mound, finishing with career-highs in several categories for the Blue Mountain Conference champion Dufur Rangers.

In a year of firsts, the Rangers had their high regular season ranking of No. 1 for that final two months, were the No. 1-seeded entering state action, added a program-best 24-2 record, and vaulted to their deepest postseason run in program history, the semifinals.
