Heading into Saturday’s Dufur Classic Jamboree, the No. 2-ranked Dufur Rangers have lost just two sets in running out to a 6-0 start to the fall season.
The good fortunes and solid all-around play continued with wins over Triangle Lake, Alsea, Sherman and South Wasco County by an average margin of 14 points.
Whether it was Taylor Darden or Montana Ferres or Sarah Helyer, Kirsten Sorensen and Abbey Stelzer, several Lady Rangers shined brightly in front of their home crowd.
“The girls played well at times and some girls got some extra playing time, which is always great for a jamboree,” said Dufur head volleyball coach Kelly Darden.
The Rangers had one of their better performances of the afternoon at the start of jamboree action by cruising to a 25-11 winner over Triangle Lake.
Up next, Dufur hit the court opposite Alsea, and the home team wowed the fans with their most dominant output, a 25-6 triumph.
In the final two matches, the Rangers played against Big Sky Conference opponents Sherman and South Wasco County.
Against Sherman, the Rangers motored to victory by a 25-16 score.
With SWC as the next team Dufur had to face, there was some good talent on display between both groups.
When the final point hit the floor, it was the Rangers who came out on top by a 25-11 tally.
There are a handful of non-league matches still left on the docket before the start of league play on Sept. 30 in a tussle at home versus Sherman.
“We are obviously still working on many things, but I thought our serving remained tough and our passing improved throughout the day,” Darden said.
Dufur takes a trip to Moro for a daylong tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Sherman Tournament.
