MORO – The Dufur Lady Rangers notched their first win of the year in impressive fashion, 50-27, over Sherman in Big Sky Conference girls basketball action Saturday at Sherman High School.
In their second-highest point output of the season, the Rangers (1-9 overall, 1-2 league) outscored the Huskies in every quarter of play, expanding on a 30-15 halftime lead with runs of 10-9 and 10-3 in the final two periods.
Dufur’s dynamic duo of Jessica Brown and Kierstin White led with 11 points apiece and both Kayla Bailey and Brooke Beachamp each posted seven-point efforts, as the team wound up with 20 field goals and drilled 10 of 18 free throws.
Sherman (0-8, 0-4) was good for seven field goals, three 3-pointers, and went 10 of 24 on free throws.
Desiree Winslow rattled home a team-leading 13 points, CJ Johnson followed with four, Mercedez Cardona tallied three and Daisy Brown checked in with two points.
The Huskies travel to Arlington at 6 p.m. Friday, before wrapping up the weekend at home versus Mitchell-Spray for a 4 p.m. start Saturday.
Dufur heads to Fossil at 6 p.m. Friday versus Condon-Wheeler and hosts Arlington at 4 p.m. Saturday.
