18U Crush wins crown in Aloha

THE DALLES Cherry City Crush softball team comes together after taking top honors in a 18U-A tournament in the Bronze bracket this past weekend in Aloha. The members are (pictured from left to right, front row), Grace Helyer, Morgan Triperinas, Hannah Harris and Ruthie Ford. In the back row are (in back row, from left to right), Maddy Bradford, Morgan Goslin, Jojo Karr, Jess Karr, Lori Cimmiyotti, Katie Helyer and Timarra Roth. They went 2-0 after a winless pool play round and won the championship by 4-1.

With a mish-mash group of softball players from The Dalles, Dufur and Hood River, the 18U Cherry City Crush softball team rebounded from a 0-3 record in pool play and reeled off four consecutive wins to secure first place at an open classification tournament last weekend in Aloha.

“The desire to learn, compete and the love of the game resulted in the success they achieved on Sunday,” said Cherry City Crush head coach Bob Delaney. “These athletes really came together as a team this weekend.”
