The City of The Dalles is asking residents to check the condition of trees and shrubs that extend over sidewalks, streets and alleys. By Ordinance, limbs and branches must be trimmed back to at least 9 feet above the sidewalk and 14 feet above the street or alley.

Voluntary cooperation with this requirement will allow for safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians and efficient enforcement of the ordinance. The City will be issuing reminder notices to the owners or occupants of property with trees and shrubs that need to be trimmed. Properties that are not taken care of within a two-week period will then be turned over to the City’s Codes Enforcement.
