Wasco County first responders want every family to have a Go-Kit on hand that includes the following:
• Prescription medications you, a family member or a pet need to stay healthy.
• A list of important phone numbers.
• A cell phone charger.
• Important documents.
• A personal action plan that shows alternate exit routes in case of an evacuation.
• A list of addresses for area emergency shelters.
In addition to having the kit ready to go, people are asked by Homeland Security to have these
supplies at home:
• Three gallons of water per person to get through three days without help.
• A three-day supply of non-perishable foods, such as protein bars, dried fruit or canned items, and a can opener.
• Filter masks or cotton t-shirts that can cover the mouth and nose of each person in the household to protect against contaminants.
• Duct tape and heavyweight garbage bags or plastic sheeting that can be used to seal windows and doors in case you need to create a barrier between your family and an outside toxin.
• Flashlight and extra batteries.
• Battery powered radio and extra batteries.
• First aid kit.
• Moist towelettes for sanitation.
• Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities.
• Garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation.
