Beyoncé doll meme

After Katy Bowman of The Dalles posted a picture of one of her crocheted Beyoncé dolls to a private Beyoncé fan page, someone decided to turn it into a meme, pictured here, and post it on Twitter. The post went viral and led to sales of her dolls.

Hand-Crocheted Beyoncé dolls

Katy Bowman of The Dalles displays some of her hand-crocheted Beyoncé dolls, including the one at left which required hundreds of tiny hand stitches to make a scaled down version of the singer’s 25-foot Vivienne Westwood cape. Bowman became internet famous after a photo of one of her dollswent viral.

After several years of knitting and scrapbooking, Katy Bowman was seeking a new crafting challenge. So she decided to teach herself how to make crochet dolls.

That decision would eventually result in a brief burst of internet fame for Bowman, a clamoring for the dolls that she modeled after her favorite singer, Beyoncé, and best of all, a letter from Beyoncé’s people.
