Dallesport THE DALLES and Klickitat County officials gathered at the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport Tuesday to break ground on 17 lots on 35 acres at a cost of $1.2 million in a new business park. Klickitat County is taking the lead on managing development of the park. “Government does not create jobs, that’s the purview of the private sector. But what government can do is create infrastructure and we see this project as the foundation for economic development,” said Klickitat County Commission Chair David Sauter. Some of the lots will be near the tarmac to serve aviation-related companies and the project is expected to provide 245 family-wage jobs.
