Two Washington men were arrested on multiple charges after a high speed chase reportedly reaching speeds of 100 mph ended in an east The Dalles neighborhood Monday night.
Ronald Lee Ricci Jr., 26, Cheney, Wash., was arrested at 15th and Dry Hollow on two charges of being a fugitive from another state and a charge of attempting to elude a police officer on foot.
Daniel David Sallee, 25, Four Lakes, Wash., was arrested in the 1700 block of East 15th Street on charges of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, attempting to elude police on foot, providing false information to a police officer, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon (knife), five counts of being a felon in possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, third degree escape, unlawful possession of heroin, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, fugitive from another state, failure to appear on a bench warrant, and possession of a prohibited firearm (machine gun, short-barrel, silencers).
According to Oregon State Police logs, a trooper noted the vehicle doing 64 in a 50 mph construction zone on Interstate 84. The driver exited into town, stopped when the trooper pulled him over, then took off.
He fled up 197, out to Fivemile, then Steele Road, Threemile, Dry Hollow, and then to East 14th, where the driver crashed into a parked car.
Both driver and passenger fled the car, but citizens directed the trooper to where they ran.
The men were located behind an East 15th Street home.
The passenger was taken into custody without incident, but the driver tried to flee and was taken into custody at gunpoint.
A search of the vehicle yielded two pistols, two rifles, one short-barreled shotgun, ammunition, a switch blade, brass knuckles, .9 grams of heroin, pipes containing methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, according to an OSP log.
