Body found west of Memaloose Park

Chief Deputy Lane Magill said a passing train spotted the body at about 12:45 p.m. and reported it. They stopped the train and stayed with the body until deputies arrived.

The man sustained injuries to his face and body, but deputies are still trying to determine a cause and time of death. Magill said it would be up to the district attorney whether an autopsy would be performed.

The body was about 25 feet away from the train tracks, Magill said.

Magill said the man had not been dead for very long and he speculated that the man died in the night and was only spotted by passing trains once it was daylight.
