THE DALLES — The Dalles Riverhawk softball team saw its losing streak reach nine games before ending the skid with two wins by week’s end.
The Riverhawks (3-8 overall, 2-1 Tri-Valley Conference) had lost eight games since their season-opening win over North Marion on March 17. The latest loss came April 14, when The Dalles opened league play with a 9-5 loss to Crook County. The Dalles committed seven errors.
The Riverhawks cleaned up their play in the field and rebounded in the second game of the series, winning 11-1 two days later. A 10-0 start after three innings helped The Dalles snap its losing skid.
The week’s clincher came a day later, when The Dalles won its series opening against Madras, 11-0.
The Dalles was scheduled to play at Madras on April 21, before starting a two-game series April 23 at league-leader, Gladstone. The Riverhawks and Gladiators play the second game of their series April 24 at 5 p.m. at 16th St. Ball Park.
