HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley sophomore Ayleen Marquez won the 110-pound weight division at the 2026 Hood River Valley Girls Invitational wrestling tournament Jan. 24.
Marquez won all five of her matches, including the final over Kelso High’s Jazmine Meza by fall in the day-long tourney at HRV. Marquez trailed 9-5 to Meza, who won three matches at last year’s WIAA state tourney, before pinning her for the title. Marquez earned a spot in the championship match by beating 2025 OSAA state tourney wrestler Chloe Warren of Liberty High in the semifinals.
Hood River also had a third-place finisher in Valeria Solario Campos at 170. The HRV senior won her first two matches before losing to eventual champion Jadyn Pense of St. Helens in the semifinals. Pense won an OSAA state championship at 170 in 2025. Solario Campos rebounded from the loss to win the third-place match over Mallak Kamel of Centennial.
Xiomara Gordian-Gomez finished sixth at 145 pounds. She went 3-2 in the tourney, losing her first match in the quarterfinal round to 2025 state tourney wrestler Alexsa Fountaine of Centennial. Gordian-Gomez won her next two matches before losing in the 5th-6th place match to Madeline Rowe of Washougal.
Asal Akhmedova of HRV won two matches at 145 pounds before losing in the quarterfinals to Jasmine Lopez Hernandez of McKay High in Salem.
Hood River’s six-member team finished 13th in the 33 team standings with 72 points. Kelso won the team title.
