Two county roads recently were renamed by the county court. Duckwall Road is now Wy’east Drive and is the county road between the state highway boarding the F.L. Moe property south of Tucker’s bridge to Duke’s Valley Road. It is routed by Wy’east High School. The second road formerly was the Al Groff Company Road and is now the Roy Webster Road. It extends from Dethman Ridge Road to Ehrch Road. The names were changed on May 11 and May 18.

Seamstress and helpers took over local brewery to sew BALTIMORE — Two hundred years ago this summer, a Baltimore flag-maker stitched the flag that inspired America’s national anthem. Now, hundreds of people are helping to recreate the star-spangled banner.

Throughout time, women have gathered together to spin and weave, providing for their families and sharing the common bonds of their gender. Though many clothes today are made by machine, enclaves of women (and a few men) continue to observe this ancient tradition. The Weavers: First of two parts ODELL — The colors range from muted creams and beiges, blacks and grays, to brilliant reds, rusts and blues when the Grace Carter Weavers gather Fridays in Odell to work on their various projects.
