The Dalles High School’s senior class features a handful of student-athletes who will continue their careers at the collegiate level.
In his career, Tyler Vassar tallied eight medalist titles, had two top-10 state finishes, and as a sophomore, he played a big part in helping The Dalles boys golf team to its best state outcome in program history, second place. All of those positive memories will be his driving force at the collegiate level.

Intermountain Conference golfers competed in the final league event of the season to determine state and regional qualifiers Monday at Meadow Lakes Golf Course in Prineville. Medalist for the event was Isaac Buerger from Ridgeview with a 75, followed by Brodie Kuizenga from Crook County and Aidan Telles from The Dalles with 79’s.
Tyler Vassar hit birdies on 14 and 15 and shot a 74 for medalist honors, his second in the past three tournaments, Aidan Telles, who had one birdie, added an 81 for third place, and The Dalles boys golf squad combined for a season-best 345 to secure second place in Intermountain Conference play Monday at Eagle Crest in Redmond.
A nice inter-conference rivalry is brewing between The Dalles’ Tyler Vassar and Ridgeview’s Isaac Buerger. One week after Vassar picked up a medalist title by three strokes at the Redmond Invitational, Buerger sank a 20-foot putt on the 18th hole to claim first place over Vassar by one stroke at Monday’s Hood River Valley Invitational.

Leading up to Monday’s final regular-season tournament, The Dalles boys’ golf team had averaged 414 on the scorecards, but have shaved down several strokes along the way, going from 435 on April 16 to 393 last week in Creswell. Aidan Telles placed sixth with his 79, Tyler Vassar added an 80 for seventh, and Spencer Taylor dropped 12 strokes from last week in Creswell to score a personal-record 102 to help the Riverhawks to a 371 and seventh place at the Crook County High Invitational at Meadow Lakes Golf Course in Prineville.
Wednesday’s Marist Invitational at Emerald Valley Golf Club gave The Dalles boys’ golf team an opportunity to get the lay of the land before regional and state action in two weeks. Aidan Telles scored fifth-place honors following his 78, and teammate Tyler Vassar added an 80 for a three-way tie for sixth place, as the Riverhawks total a 22-stroke improvement with a 393 to get seventh place at Creswell.
