MAUPIN – The Dufur Rangers captured their seventh straight win to move up to No. 10 in the 1A rankings after a 56-33 victory over South Wasco County Saturday in a Big Sky Conference boys’ basketball game played in Maupin.
The Dufur Rangers moved into second place in the Big Sky Conference after picking up a dominant 80-50 triumph over Condon-Wheeler Friday at Dufur High School.
Bailey Keever, Ian Cleveland and Hagen Pence picking up first-team all-Big Sky Conference awards on both sides of the ball, T.J. Kennedy was a first-team selection at defensive end, and Keever earned Offensive Player of the Year honors.
DUFUR – With a new head coach on the sidelines, the Dufur Rangers have depth on the roster, a focused mindset and the appearance of an upstart hoops team that can make the big jump into the Baker City state mix in March.
Before they can start thinking about championships, however, the first task at hand is taking care of Ryan Sinnett, Kenny Lane and the upset-minded Lowell Red Devils in a 1A state semifinal football game slated for noon Saturday at Summit High School in Bend.
Down two starters now with Hagen Pence and Connor Uhalde on the injury shelf, Dufur’s Travis Lucas amped up his offensive efforts with a season-high 18 points to lead the Dufur Rangers to a 53-47 win over Condon-Wheeler Friday in Dufur.
The Dufur Rangers led 27-26 at the half, but Columbia Christian exploded for 15 second-half field goals and used a 38-25 second-half to hold on to the 64-52 win Tuesday in a non-league boys’ basketball game played at Dufur High School.
