Two recreational white sturgeon fisheries in the Columbia River upstream of Bonneville Dam will close during the upcoming week under rules adopted today by fishery managers from Oregon and Washington while a third remains open until its harvest guideline is met.
In the wake of continued above-average high temperatures, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has instituted new fishing regulations to help mitigate the stress on salmon and other fish that has been caused by the heat and low water levels.

Spawning sanctuary extends from The Dalles dam downstream 1.8 miles to the upstream end of the boat ramp at The Dalles Marina on the Oregon shore. All sturgeon fishing, including catch-and-release, will be prohibited in this area from May 1 to July 31.
