The late Gary Honald will be remembered in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium in The Dalles, The date would have been Honald’s 80th birthday, a day that he took great delight in reminding everyone about The Dalles Kiwanis Club meetings, paying $1 for the privilege. each week.
To the editor: The Main Street Coordinator, Matthew Klebes, along with chamber staff, community volunteers, David Griffith’s building, Wasco County Library, Kiwanis Club, Key Club Students, Gary Honald’s sleigh being pulled by a tractor, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and Julie Johnson, photographer, provided a free and exciting event for the community of The Dalles on two different Saturdays, the 13th and 20th. They provided an opportunity for families to complete crafts, read stories, have a cup of hot chocolate and eat a cookie. After a visit with Mr.and Mrs.Claus and a picture with Santa, there were sleigh rides around town to see all of the beautiful Christmas lights and displays.
Over 350 children and their parents visited Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the old Griffith Automotive Showroom for the, Santa in the Downtown Saturdays last month put on by The Dalles Main Street Organization.
