To the editor: Most people believe in Jesus. Some believe he was an influential person in history. Some believe he was a prophet, but second to another, later, wiser, voice. Some are very religious about their belief and put up Christmas lights and Nativity scenes.
Setting the stage for Easter Sunday, The Last Days of Jesus Pageant re-enacted the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Friday night starting on the Wasco County courthouse steps and progressing to The Dalles Wasco County Library for the crucifixion scene. The burial scene followed at First Christian Church, where the resurrection scene will also be held Easter Sunday at 8 a.m.
April 15 marks the beginning of Passover, the Jewish commemoration of God’s liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery more than 3,300 years ago. It commemorates the story of Exodus told in the Hebrew Bible.
To the editor: We are about to celebrate the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus and the world has tied this to the Easter holiday where new life and new growth is celebrated with chickens and rabbits. They are two separate things. I have been walking with and love the Lord for 52 years and we have always been taught Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose Sunday morning. We even have a tradition in town acting out this event.
